Hazrat Abu Hurairah رضي الله عنه narrates that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم was once on Mount Hiraa when it began to shake. Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم addressed the mountain saying, “Be still, O Hiraa! For only a Nabi, a siddeeq, and a martyr stands upon you.” When this incident transpired, Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم was on the mountain with Hazrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه, Hazrat ‘Umar رضي الله عنه, Hazrat ‘Uthmaan رضي الله عنه, Hazrat ‘Ali رضي الله عنه, Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه, Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه and Hazrat Sa’d bin abi Waqqaas رضي الله عنه.

The Neighbor of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم in Jannah
Hazrat ‘Ali رضي الله عنه said, “My ear had directly heard the following statement from the blessed mouth of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم: “Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه and Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه will be my neighbors in Jannah.””

Naming his Sons after Martyrs
Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه once mentioned:
“Indeed, Talhah bin ‘Ubaidillah رضي الله عنه names his sons after the Ambiyaa عليهم السلام, although he knows that that there will be no Nabi after Nabi Muhammed صلى الله عليه وسلم. I name my sons after martyrs so that my sons may perhaps also be blessed with martyrdom.”
Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه thus named ‘Abdullah after Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Jahsh رضي الله عنه, Munzir after Hazrat Munzir bin ‘Amr رضي الله عنه, ‘Urwah after Hazrat ‘Urwah bin Mas‘ood رضي الله عنه, Hamzah after Hazrat Hamzah bin ‘Abdil Muttalib رضي الله عنه, Ja’far after Hazrat Ja’far bin Abi Taalib رضي الله عنه, Mus‘ab after Hazrat Mus‘ab bin ‘Umair رضي الله عنه, ‘Ubaidah after Hazrat ‘Ubaidah bin Haarith رضي الله عنه, Khaalid after Hazrat Khaalid bin Sa‘eed رضي الله عنه and ‘Amr after Hazrat ‘Amr bin Sa‘eed bin ‘Aas رضي الله عنه who was martyred in the Battle of Yarmuk.

REFLECTIONS
Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! Allahu Akbar! The honour Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه had for martyrdom and the martyrs becomes crystal clear from his criteria for naming his children. Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم were searching for martyrdom their entire lives. It was one of the greatest honours for them. They would make Dua to Allah Ta’ala for this position.
Sayyiduna Umar رضي الله عنه would make the following dua during his life, “O Allah! Bless me with martyrdom in Your path, and make my demise be in the city of Your Rasul.” (Bukhaari #1890)
It is also a Sunnah to recite the following Dua when seeing someone wearing new clothes:
اِلْبَسْ جَدِيْدًا وَعِشْ حَمِيْدًا وَمُتْ شَهِيْدًا
May you wear new clothing, lead a praiseworthy life, and pass away as a martyr.
Hazrat Ibnu Umar رضي الله عنه reports that on one occasion, Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم saw Hazrat Umar رضي الله تعالى عنه wearing a white garment. Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم asked him, “Is your garment new, or is it (an old garment that you have) washed?” Hazrat Umar رضي الله تعالى عنه replied, “It is new.” Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم then made dua for him by reciting the abovementioned words.
