Hazrat Abdullah bin Abbaas رضي الله عنهما mentions: I was present on the occasion when the body of Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه was placed on the bier after his martyrdom. People began to throng around his body. While waiting for his body to be raised and taken for burial, they were reciting durood upon Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and making dua for Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه. Suddenly, I found a person behind me holding onto my shoulder. When I turned to see who it was, I saw that it was none other than Hazrat Ali رضي الله عنه. While looking at the body of Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه, he said, “O Umar! May Allah Ta’ala shower His special mercy on you!” He then said, “At this time, there is no person whose actions are more beloved to me, and which I wish to meet Allah Ta’ala with, more than your actions! I take an oath by Allah! I have conviction that Allah Ta’ala will join you with your two companions, Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and Hazrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه. You were always with Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and Hazrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه throughout your life. Hence, I would often hear Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم saying, ‘I went to a certain place with Abu Bakr and Umar. I entered a certain place with Abu Bakr and Umar. I left a certain place with Abu Bakr and Umar.’” (Bukhaari #3685)

REFLECTIONS
Sayyiduna Hassaan bin Thaabit رضي الله عنه, the famous poet of Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم mentioned,
“There were three (people) that were outstanding.
May their Rabb raise them on the Day of Qiyaamah with radiant faces.
No believer who has some insight will deny their virtue when mention is made of them.
They three lived together inseparably and were buried together (as well).” (Usdul Ghaabah vol. 3, pg. 343)
(The Martyrdom of Sayyiduna Umar Bin Khattab رضي الله عنه pg.26)
The lesson which needs to be imprinted on the heart of each and every believer is that we love the Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم. It is hoped that through loving these sincere souls رضي الله عنهم, Allah Ta‘ala through His infinite mercy, will resurrect us among these eternally successful individuals in the Akhirah. Āmeen
