Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم had such great love for Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه that he mentioned his name among the ten people whom he gave the glad tidings of Jannah in this world. Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “Hazrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah, Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah, Hazrat Uthmaan رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah, Hazrat Ali رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah, Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah, Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah, Hazrat Abdur Rahmaan bin Auf رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah, Hazrat Sa’d رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah, Hazrat Sa‘eed رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah and Hazrat Abu Ubaidah bin Jarraah رضي الله عنه is among the people of Jannah.” (Tirmizi #3747)
In one Hadith, Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “The one who harbours enmity for Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه has harbored enmity for me, and the one who loves Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه loves me, and indeed Allah Ta’ala expressed happiness with all the Muslims in general on the night of Arafah, and He expressed happiness with Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه specifically.” (Majma’uz Zawaa’id #14439)

REFLECTIONS
These ten illustrious Sahabah رضي الله عنهم, who were given glad tidings of Jannah in one sitting, are known as the Ashara Mubashara. Hazrat Abu Bakr and Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنهما are both at the top of this list.
The esteemed rank of Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه is as clear as daylight from this narration, as is the wretchedness and deprivation of those who praise and applaud the majoosi who martyred Hazrat Umar رضي الله عنه. May Allah Ta’ala save us and the entire Ummah!
We also understand that attachment and love for the Sahabah رضي الله عنهم is the stairway to the love for Allah Ta‘ala and Sayyiduna Rasoolullah صلى الله عليه وسلم.
