It is reported in the Hadith that Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “When you recite Durood at my grave, I hear your Durood, and when you recite Durood from afar, then your Durood is conveyed to me (via the angels).”
(The Gift of Durood and Salaam pg. 64)
Abu Sulayman Muhammad bin al Husain Hirani الله رحمه says, “Among my neighbours there was one called Fadhl, who busied himself much with prayers and fasting. He once told me, ‘I used to copy Ahaadith, but never wrote Salaat on the Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلمwhen his name was written’. Then Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم told me in a dream, ‘Why is it that you fail to recite salaat when my name is spoken or written?’ (Thereafter this man (Fadhl) took great precaution in reciting Salaat Alan Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم. A few days later he again saw Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلمin a dream and he صلى الله عليه وسلم spoke to him thus, “Verily your salaat reaches me. Hence continue to recite ‘Sallallaahu alayhi wasallam’ whenever my name is mentioned”.

No Amount is too little
There is an incident of a pious person who had the habit of reciting the following Durood Shareef seven times before going to sleep daily.
Once on the occasion of hajj after finishing his Umrah he fell asleep, exhausted, without reciting the Durood. Whilst asleep he saw Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم in his dream who asked him why he had forgotten his daily allocation of Durood. He immediately woke up and recited the Durood Shareef
The dream was interpreted as Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلمsaying that the Durood is reaching him صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Hence the need is that, instead of becoming complacent by the fact that we cannot recite excessive amount of Durood, let us try and make a concerted and consistent effort to recite Durood Shareef regularly. Most certainly our Durood Shareef will also reach Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and we will also enjoy the numerous virtues of Durood.
May Allah Ta’ala grant us the tawfeeq of making the recitation if Durood Shareef a regular feature of our lives.
“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
