عن أبي هريرة رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال من صلى علي واحدة صلى الله عليه عشرا ومن صلى علي عشرا صلى الله عليه مائة و من صلى علي مائة صلى الله عليه الفا و من زاد صبابة و شوقا كنت له شفيعا وشهيدا يوم القيامة (القول البديع ص236)
Hadhrat Abu Hurayrah رضي اللهُ عنه reports that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Whoever recites durood on me once, on him Allah Ta’ala sends ten blessings. Whosoever recites durood on me ten times, on him Allah Ta’ala sends one hundred blessings. Whosoever recites durood on me one hundred times, on him Allah Ta’ala sends thousand blessings. And whoever recites more with love and enthusiasm, I will intercede and testify for him on the day of Qiyamah.

The Author of Dalaailul Khairaat
It is mentioned regarding the author of Dalaailul Khairaat that he once set out on a journey. During the journey, he required water to perform Wudhu. Subsequently, he came across a well, but due to not having a bucket and rope, he could not draw out the water from the well. Out of concern for his Salaah, he became extremely worried.
While in this state, a young girl (who was not yet baaligh) saw him and came to him. She asked him what the matter was, and he explained to her the problem. She immediately spat into the well whereupon the water rose to the top of the well by itself.
Witnessing the miracle performed by the young girl, he was overcome by surprise and thus asked the girl; “How did you perform this miracle?” The girl replied; “This was through the blessings of the Durood which I have recited upon Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم.” It was this miracle that motivated him to write the book Dalaailul Khairaat.
Allamah Zardaq رحمه الله reports that upon the demise of the author of Dalaailul Khairaat, the fragrant smell of musk and amber used to spread forth from the grave. This was due to the blessings of Durood.

Exposing our Children to Quran, Zikr and Durood
The parents should recite the Quran Majeed, make Zikr, recite Durood Shareef and do kitab reading in the presence of the child so that the child becomes familiar with the words of Allah Ta’ala and Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, and the noor of Islam has a positive impact on the child.

A Child’s Love for Madinah Munawwarah
This incident occurred at a time when Saudi Arabia was not financially well off like today and the kingdom’s income was mainly derived from Hujjaaj who spent in the blessed lands. The inhabitants were in great poverty and it was difficult to make ends meet.
Moulana Zafar Ahmad Uthmani رحمه الله states, “At that time, I performed Haj and then reached Madinah Munawwarah. We had our meals and dusted our dastarkhan on a heap so that the animals could eat the left over pieces of bread and bones. After some time, I emerged from my room and was surprised to see a 8-9 year old handsome young boy picking up the pieces of bread and eating them. His plight saddened me. So I brought him back to my room and gave him a full meal because I was in the city of that personality who was the guardian of the poor and slaves. The young boy was visibly pleased with my response towards him. As he was leaving, I asked him, ‘What does your father do for a living?’ The boy replied, ‘I am an orphan.’ I then asked him, ‘Would you like to come with me to India? There I will feed you with the best of foods and dress you in the best of clothing. I will educate you in our madrasah. When you have become an alim, I will personally return with you and hand you over to your mother. Go and seek her permission.’ The boy was very happy with my proposal and ran to his mother. She was in difficulty, having to take care of her other children, so she agreed to let him come with me. The boy quickly returned and said, ‘I am ready to come with you. My mother has given her permission.’ He then asked, ‘Do you also get the type of gram seeds of this area there?’ Moulana رحمه الله replied, ‘Son, you will get all of these things in large amounts.””
Moulana رحمه الله continued, “The boy then took hold of my finger and walked with me to Masjidun Nabawi. As we approached, he suddenly stood still. He looked at the Rawdhah and the door of the Masjid and asked, ‘Father, will we also find this door and this Rawdhah there?’
I said to him, ‘Son, if this was found there, why would I come here?’ Now the boy’s expression changed. He let go of my finger and said, ‘Father, you go. If this cannot be found there, I will never leave this door and go away. I will remain hungry and thirsty. I will satiate my hunger and quench my thirst by looking at this door like I have been doing all this time. He then began to cry. Seeing his love, I also began to cry.”

Reflections
We should question ourselves as to what values we have instilled in the lives of our children. Nowadays, we give the kids phones, ipads and gadgets to keep them occupied but unfortunately, there is no real concern or motivation for Durood Shareef. As a start, let us as parents encourage our children to recite Durood Shareef ten times in the morning and ten times in the evening. By virtue of this simple habit, we can pattern a path for them to receive the intercession of Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم on the Day of Qiyamah. This attachment to Durood Shareef can be the determining factor of their salvation.
يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمَاً أَبَدًا عَلَىْ حَبِيْبِكَ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمِ
“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”
جَزَی اللّهُ عَنَّا نَبِيَّنَا مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّی الله عَلَیْه وسَلَّمَ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ
May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
