Title: He was famously known as Hazrat Talha al-Khair and Talha al- Fayyadh.

Receiving the title of Al-Fayyadh from Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم
Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم granted Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه the title of Talhah Al-Fayyaadh (an extremely generous person) on two occasions. Below is one such occasion:
During the battle of Zi Qarad, Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم passed by the well of Baisaan. The water of this well was known to be bitter. Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, ‘This well should be named Na’maan. Na’maan means good.’ Upon Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم changing its name, Allah Ta’ala caused the water of the well to become sweet.
Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه purchased this well from its owner and donated its water for the benefit of the muslims. In one narration it is mentioned that during the same battle, he also slaughtered a camel and fed its meat to the people. It was on that occasion that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said to him: “O Talhah, certainly, you are Al-Fayyaadh (an extremely generous person).’

Musa bin Talhah رحمه الله has mentioned that Hazrat ‘Ali رضي الله عنه, Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه, Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه and Hazrat Sa’d رضي الله عنه were all born in the same year.

This means that all these illustrious Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم were born ten years before the Nubuwwah of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and were thirty years younger than Rasulullah صلی الله عليه وسلم.
Islam at the Hands of Hazrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه
Ibn Ishaaq رحمه الله has mentioned Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه, Hazrat ‘Uthmaan رضي الله عنه, Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه, Hazrat ‘Abdur Rahmaan رضي الله عنه and Hazrat Sa’d رضي الله عنه had all accepted Islam at the hands of Hazrat Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه.

REFLECTIONS
When repeatedly witnessing the fact that Sayyiduna Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه was the means of great Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم accepting Islam, it should stir the desire in everyone’s heart to also be accepted to spread Hidayat and good actions in the entire world. The following Hadith highlights this aspect:
Be a Key for Goodness and a Lock for Evil
عن سهل بن سعد رضي الله عنهما أن النبي صلى الله عليه و سلم قال إن هذا الخير خزائن ولتلك الخزائن مفاتيح فطوبى لعبد جعله الله عز و جل مفتاحا للخير مغلاقا للشر وويل لعبد جعله الله مفتاحا للشر مغلاقا للخير رواه ابن ماجه واللفظ له وابن أبي عاصم وفي سنده لين وهو في الترمذي بقصة (الترغيب والترهيب 1/115)
Hadhrat Sahl bin Sa’d رضي الله عنه reports that Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said: “Indeed this goodness of Islam are treasures (of Allah Ta’ala). And these treasures have keys (to its doors). May glad tidings be for that servant whom Allah Ta’ala has made a key for goodness and a lock for evil; and may destruction be for that servant whom Allah Ta’ala has made a key for evil and a lock for good (deeds).”
