Hazrat Zubair bin Awwaam رضي الله عنه reports that on the occasion of Uhud, Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم wore a double armour.
During the battle, Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم intended to climb onto a rock but due to the weight of the double armour, he was unable to do so. He therefore requested Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه to sit down so that he could take support from him and climb onto the rock. Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه immediately sat down and assisted Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم to ascend the rock.
Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه says that he heard Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم saying at that time, “It has become waajib for Talhah (i.e. Jannah has become waajib for Talhah).”
In the battle of Uhud, Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه bravely accompanied Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and protected him. Whenever the Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم discussed the battle of Uhud, they would say that this day (the day of Uhud) belonged to Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه. Hazrat Talhah رضي الله عنه had shielded Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم with his body. He received more than eighty wounds on his body, yet he did not leave the side of Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, even though his hand had become paralyzed due to the severe wounds. REFLECTIONS
Defending Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم and the Deen of Islam are two of the many salient features of the Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم.
One simple way we can defend Deen and the way of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم is by practicing on Deen and the Sunnats of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم.
The Message of Rabeeul Awwal
Hazrat Moulana Ashraf Ali Thanwi رحمه الله mentions,
“Allah Ta’ala sent Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم so that we may obtain the bounties of Jannah through fulfilling all his rights. However, if we neglect discharging his rights but just praise him a little, or organise a programme, it is valueless. For example, what is the use of praising a doctor without noting and utilising his prescription. Fulfilling the rights of Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم is a perpetual effort.
Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم is not like a rainfall which comes only in a particular season. Rather Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم is like the rainfall that brings an everlasting spring, after which there is no autumn.
This spring (referring to Nabi’s صلى الله عليه وسلم Deen, teachings, guidance, mercy and blessings) is present in Rabeeul Awwal as well as in other months. In fact, the spring brought by Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم during his blessed life is still present and alive today.
