Sayyiduna Zubair’s رضي الله عنه Caution In Narrating Hadith From Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم.

Hazrat ‘Abdullah bin Zubair رضي الله عنه narrates that he once asked his father, Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه, “Why do you not narrate the Ahaadeeth of Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم, as such-and-such Sahaabah رضي الله عنهم narrate?” Hazrat Zubair رضي الله عنه replied, “I did not leave Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم after accepting Islam (I am thus able to narrate many Ahaadeeth). However, on one occasion, I heard Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم mention something (due to which I fear quoting Ahaadeeth). I heard him صلى الله عليه وسلم say, “The one who deliberately lies against me (fabricates Ahaadeeth and attributes them to me) should prepare his abode in the Hellfire.”

REFLECTIONS

This serves as a golden guideline for Ahadith propagation. Every believer should first verify the authenticity of a narration before sharing or broadcasting it. In this way, he will be saved from falling under the purview of the abovementioned Hadith.
