It is known that Imam Abu Hanifah رحمه الله completed 61 Quran in Ramadaan; one in the day, one at night and one in Taraweeh. Likewise, it is mentioned regarding Imam Shafi رحمه الله that he completed 60 Qurans every Ramadaan. Once, Shaikhul-Hadith, Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya رحمه الله encouraged his murids and followers to do the same. He said,
“Once, I wrote to some of my friends and asked them to recite 60 Qurans in one Ramadaan. Many of my friends strived to reach that goal. Moulana Inam finished 61 Qurans, one did 56 and some did 60.”
