The Closest to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم on the Day of Qiyaamah

عن عبد الله بن مسعود رضي الله عنه أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قال: أولى الناس بي يوم القيامة أكثرهم عليّ صلاة (سنن الترمذي رقم484)

Hazrat Abdullah Bin Masood رضي الله عنه narrates that Hazrat Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم said, “The closest person to me on the Day of Qiyaamah will be the one who recited the most Durood upon me.”

Commentary

“The closest person to me on the Day of Qiyaamah”- Allamah Sakhaawi رحمه الله states that Ibn Hibbaan رحمه الله commenting on this Hadith, says that those who will be closest to Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم  on the Day of Qiyaamah will be the Muhadditheen (scholars of Hadith) because they recite Durood Shareef the most.

Hazrat Abu Ubaydah رحمه الله has also stated that this Hadith refers to the Muhadditheen because Durood Shareef is read and written every time they write a Hadith. Abu Nu’aym رحمه الله has also expressed the same opinion. This is because they always getting the opportunity to recite Durood Shareef when reciting, narrating and writing Ahaadith. The term Muhadditheen refers not only to the Imaams of Hadith, but all those people who who read and teach books of Hadith whether it is in Arabic or not.(Fazaail Durood pg.32)

Three Hundred Durood Daily

Allamah Sakhaawi رحمه الله has stated in his Qutul Quloob that the minimum amount of Durood that is regarded as ‘abundant recitation’ is to recite Durood Shareef 300 times. Hadhrat Moulana Gangohi رحمه الله also used to prescibe 300 times Durood to those wishing to draw close to Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله.(Fazaail Durood pg.32)

Durood Advices from Moulana Muhammad Saleem Dhorat Sahib حفظه الله

“My respected brothers, we need to be extremely punctual on Durood Shareef. Below are a few points regarding this:

  1. Daily Practice – Every person should try to recite a minimum amount of 300 Durood daily. The best Durood is Durood Ibrahim. If a person manages to recite Durood Ibrahim 300 times daily, this is excellent. If not, one may read any other Durood Shareef but please recite it with enthusiasm and intense love. Over and above this, we should increase our recitation on Jumuah since there are special virtues for reciting Durood on Jumuah. Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم says “Whoever recites eighty (80) Durood upon me on a Friday (after Asr), eighty years of his sins will be forgiven. Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم has commanded us to recite Durood in abundance on a Friday..
  2. 40 Durood and Salaam – We should all get a copy of the 40 Durood and salaam. It contains 40 forms of Durood and Salaam taught to us by Nabi صلى الله عليه وسلم himself. It is best if we can recite it everyday. Otherwise, we should recite it at least once a week. And if that day is Jumuah then this is نور على نور.
  3. Continuous Durood Shareef– Over and above our daily amounts of Durood Shareef, we should continue reciting as much Durood Shareef as possible, sitting, standing and in all conditions.
  4. Increasing our Durood Amount –  We should also endeavor to gradually increase our daily and Jumuah Durood Shareef. The method of achieving this is that once we are able to comfortably accomplish our daily amount, we should increase it. So when we can comfortably complete 300 Durood daily, then increase it to 400. Once we achieve 400 then try for 500 and continue increasing in this manner.

My beloved brothers, The more Durood Shareef you will recite, the more barakah you will experience. So much so that you will even experience barakah in your time. Some of our pious predecessors used to recite 125 000 Durood Shareef daily. They achieved this amount gradually. When they persevered with love and sincerity, then Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله put barakah into their time. Hence, if we make an effort with a good intention then Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله will also make this a reality in our lives as well.” (Mawaaiz Hasanah v.2 pg.69)

Hazrat Soofi Aslam Sahib’s رحمه الله Daily Practice of 125 000 Durood

From our pious elders is a great personality, Hazrat Soofi Aslam Sahib رحمه الله. Many of the elderly may have met him too. He was small in stature but great in action; an ardent lover of Durood Shareef. With two Tasbeehs in his hands, his daily practice was to recite an amazing 125 000 Durood Shareef.  Shaikhul Hadith, Hazrat Moulana Muhammad Zakariyya Sahib رحمه الله had instructed that when he passes away, his ghusl should not commence until Soofi Aslam Sahib is present. Honour will be achieved by our attachment to Sayyiduna Rasulullah صلى الله عليه وسلم through the institution of Durood Shareef.

May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله inspire us to attach ourselves to Durood Shareef. آمين

يَا رَبِّ صَلِّ وَسَلِّمْ دَائِمَاً أَبَدًا عَلَىْ حَبِيْبِكَ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ كُلِّهِمِ

“O Sustainer, shower Salaat and Salaam forever and ever upon Your beloved, who is the best of all creation.”

 جَزَی الله عَنَّا نَبِيَّنَا مُحَمَّدًا صَلَّی اللہُ عَلَیْه وسَلَّمَ بِمَا هُوَ أَھْلُهُ

May Allah Ta’ala جل جلاله reward our Nabi Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم on our behalf such a reward that is due to Him.
